When the world first went into lockdown back in March 2020, I remember feeling an overwhelming sense of disbelief. At first, it seemed like something out of a dystopian novel. Classes were canceled, social gatherings were banned, and suddenly my college life was reduced to staring at a computer screen for hours on end. Initially, there was this weird excitement—a novelty to attending virtual classes in pajamas and not having to commute. However, that initial thrill quickly morphed into a heavy weight of isolation.

The abrupt shift left me feeling disoriented. My usual support systems—friends and professors—were now just faces on Zoom calls. I found myself missing those spontaneous moments: grabbing coffee between classes or laughing with friends after lectures. Suddenly confined to the four walls of my room, I began to realize how much I relied on social interactions for my mental well-being.

I took up hobbies I’d long ignored due busy schedules: reading books outside curriculum constraints brought immense joy back into life! Writing poetry emerged as another outlet—turning angst-filled thoughts onto paper provided catharsis unlike anything else experienced prior! Such creative pursuits not only distracted but also offered clarity regarding personal identity amidst ongoing uncertainty around academic success post-pandemic.

A New Perspective Moving Forward

Looking back now at how profoundly these events affected both mental well-being & academic journey shows growth stemming from adversity—a silver lining amidst clouds blocking horizons once envisioned clearly pre-COVID era! Sure enough struggles faced during lockdowns won’t vanish overnight nor should they forgotten; rather lessons learned will remain ingrained within psyche shaping resilience moving forward toward future endeavors whether personal/professional paths pursued!
